Hello Vibers. You may have noticed my regular Tuesday post was missing this week. I’ll be back soon — hopefully next week, but I might not be able to resume my schedule until July. I just need a little time for some personal matters.
If you have any extra good vibes to spare, please send them my way. 🩷
This issue is going to look a little different… mainly because Reddit is no longer an option for me! 😭
If you’re not in the loop, Reddit announced some major API changes to essentially kill third-party apps (you know, ones that actually work, aren’t inundated with ads every two posts, and provide a great user experience) by jacking up the price so high that any small developers cannot continue doing their work. And this starts on July 1, so they didn’t give anyone time to make arrangements, adjustments, or plans on how to move forward with the site.
Read more here: Apollo’s creator Christian Selig’s fight with Reddit that broke open the floodgates. Oh, and read Christian’s latest post calling out Reddit’s CEO for lying about saying they will work with developers who want to work with them. Basically, the CEO is… not a good dude, IMO.
I cannot and will not support a greedy company who refuses to hire actual moderators (and now, they are actively suspending any moderators who are participating in the current protest) or put effort into their own app to make it a better user experience. The corporate greed is just one of the (several) reasons why I also left Twitter, the platform I called home for the last fifteen years. ☹️
Let’s focus on the good, though: I’m really digging Bluesky so far. It’s still very beta, but it’s fun watching it grow. I might have an invite code or two hanging around, if you’re curious just reach out!
We’ve become nomads searching for our next place to hang. Federation seems to be the new thing — between Bluesky and other established spaces like Discord and Mastodon, we are not only watching, but actively participating in the newest wave of social media. It kind of feels weird, right?
Having been chronically online for more than half (ew) my life, I know we’ll find another place to hang our hats for the next little while, it’s just going to take some time to figure out what feels right. And so it goes!
So, at least for now, goodbye Reddit… and off I go to surf the internet like I did back in the day, in search of good content to share with you today!
I’ve got some good stuff on tap this round: I found some interesting articles, a handful of memes, and some videos to keep you chilled to the max.
Have a wonderful weekend, my dudes!
What I’m reading… and other finds:
Apparently it’s Grimace’s birthday. Are you celebrating?
Need something to fall asleep to? Ryan Reynolds has you covered. What doesn’t he do?!
SJP can’t quit Carrie and frankly, I’m thrilled. I’m definitely here to enjoy the continuation of this story.
Fish making music just might heal our coral reefs. Incredible! 🐠
Scammer’s gonna scam! Idk why anyone would buy this chick’s book but hey, we all enjoy a dramatic pop culture moment, I suppose.

How many actual intrusive thoughts do you think you have in a day?
Dua Lipa moved Trent Reznor to tears (because she’s freaking amazing?) 🎶
The English language is still evolving and most recently, South Florida is seeing a new dialect emerge. Pretty freaking cool, tracking this in our lifetime!
Need a change of scenery? This country will pay you to move there and help revitalize their already beautiful islands.
This article pulled me in with its opening line: “Exactly 1,000 years ago this month, construction started on a magnificent island building off the coast of France…” You know I went straight to Google Maps to peep this castle.
If aliens are trying to make contact with the human race/Planet Earth, this supernova might help them find us.
In other supernova news, this exploding star might help us further understand the mysteries of our universe. 🤯
Who knew the white spots you find on a Monarch Butterfly help them fly further, reaching their desired migration destination?
I did not have giant African snails forcing parts of a Florida county into quarantine on my 2023 bingo card, but hey, I guess in the wild world we live in now, anything is possible. 🐌
I didn’t realize there were some conspiracy theories around California’s infamous Rim Fire, which started in the summer of 2013.
Substacks I’m into…
One of the best parts of this platform is the variety of writing I can explore. Here are some ‘stacks I’m really enjoying lately.
What I’m listening to…
Social Anxiety Variety Hour — The creator of
, Sara Benincasa, has revived her podcast and introduced a new format last week. Welcome back, babe! 🥰Lost Hills — Written and hosted by journalist Dana Goodyear of The New Yorker, this show explores the dark side of Malibu. Season 3 just started and is all about Miki Dora, a legendary con artist and surfer who ran from the FBI for about seven years “in search of the perfect wave.” Hello, Point Break? (Be sure to check out the first two seasons, too!)
