Ahhhh August. It’s good to see you again. My favorite summer month. I can’t place exactly why it’s my favorite, but something in the air is different once August arrives. Maybe it’s that “back to school” feeling, even though I’m decades a long way from a “back to school” moment. I could wax poetic about the way late summer mornings feel but it might be better to just rock and roll right into the weekend with this latest issue — especially since this was absent for the month of July.
This issue will have loads of content that I’ve been saving since the last round of Chill Vibes. I hope to keep piece of my Substack one going, so if you’re digging these vibes, share them with a friend.
Without further ado let’s get into it! 👏🏻

A nursery… for stars!!!!!! Incredible!
More space stuff. If you can’t tell, I’m very into this type of stuff. The James Webb Space Telescope continues to deliver and I am enthralled by every image we receive!

Party like a rockstar! Or read about these famous rockstar parties instead, if you’re old like me. I just wish I could have attended just one of Freddie Mercury’s parties.
The Darien Gap attracts adventurers, sure, but the people trekking through this stretch of jungle are often in search of a better life.
We’re starting to learn how intelligent dinosaurs could have been. This article in the Scientific American explores the brainpower of these ancient, long-extinct creatures.

Celebrate some nice July wins with The Skimm!
The last day of July brought us some sad news as we said goodbye to Paul Reubens. I’ll never forget Pee-wee Herman and the entertainment he provided throughout my life.
And in August, we get ready to welcome Ahsoka. The latest trailer is below, but I highly recommend you at least watch REBELS before jumping into this new series. (I’m currently doing a rewatch of The Clone Wars and REBELS before the series drops, but I’m a huge Star Wars fan!)
BOOK CORNER
The last few months, I had slowed my reading again because I keep working on the book. Finally though, I’ve dipped back into my shelf and started moving through my TBR list. Here’s what I finished recently and what’s on tap currently.
The Perfect Marriage, by Jeneva Rose. I could not put this one down!! This will forever live on my shelf, prominently next to Gone Girl, for inspiration. Rose’s thriller completely sucked me in and I was going to give my copy to my BFF but decided I couldn’t part with it (so I bought her a copy, lol). I heard this is going to become a movie, too. I’m all in and can’t wait to read more of her work!
For You and Only You, by Caroline Kepnes. The fourth installment of the YOU series and I will always want to read about this insane character Kepnes dreamed up. A change of scenery and pace for Joe, and I absolutely raced through it. I wish I could have savored it more, but at the same time, I couldn’t stop turning the pages. Kepnes has done it again and yeah, I look forward to seeing how different the next season of the television series will be, since it has deviated from the books. I’m a conflicted fan of Joe (and Kepnes’ work overall) and always will be — the way she makes me root for this horrible person is unreal.
Long Live Mortal Kombat, by David L. Craddock. A gift from my husband (and signed! ah!) because Mortal Kombat was and will always be one of my favorite console games. I am eagerly awaiting the new MK1 that drops later this year and am really enjoying learning about the history of this incredible game.
What are you reading nowadays? I’m always looking for recommendations to add to my list. Follow me on Goodreads and don’t forget to hit up Bookshop.org to support your local bookstore(s)!
AUDIO/VISUAL VIBES
The Righteous Gemstones is appointment television in my house — and Season 3 just ended. It was incredible. If you haven’t seen it, start at the beginning and skip this video so you can enjoy the story in full. It’s been renewed for another season, so you have plenty of time to catch up before new episodes drop!

I recently devoured Scamanda (Lionsgate Sound). I was hesitant to listen but kept hearing about it (good and bad things) so I decided to give it a shot while I was doing some cleaning. It completely sucked me in. If you’re into a scammer story, you might enjoy it too.
What stories are you listening to lately? I need to refresh my feed. Pop any recommendations in the comments and I will be forever grateful!
