Chill Vibes, Vol. 2
Kickstart your weekend with some reads, movie trailers, memes, and more!
Hello Vibers! We made it through another week. I didn’t have to work (took a nice little stay-cation, highly recommend!), so I took the time to chill out, rest, and recharge my batteries. Let me tell you, it was much needed after I helped launch a project and worked a lot of extra hours over the last few weeks. Totally worth it.
I hope you’re able to find some chill time for yourself as you enter the weekend. To help you kickstart that, here’s a “roundup” of various things I’ve seen/read/explored around the web this week. From reads and movie trailers to subreddits and online boutiques, I think I’ve got a little something for everyone in this volume of Chill Vibes. Enjoy!
The “Women Who Make Cool Sh*t & You Should Support Them” Section
Here are some absolute babes you should know about, because not only are they freaking fantastic, but they craft great content and products that I know you’ll enjoy.
Krista Xavier — My art goddess. She’s created the art for this publication and has become a great friend to me. Her work is amazing — I even commissioned some of her artwork for my “Babe Cave” (read: home office). I can’t get enough of her work. And bonus, because we’re friends, we send each other memes constantly (some of which you get to see in this newsletter). <3
Olivia Nadine Boutique — This little boutique is based out of Kansas and is run by some pretty awesome ladies who I’ve been internet friends with for several years. Their jewelry is excellent — no matter which price point you gravitate to, the quality is superior and holds up so well. My personal fave piece I’ve ever purchased is the Braque Mother of Pearl necklace (I actually bought the stack featured on the page and it’s gorgeous, it never tangles!!) and Crystal Nail ring. They have seasonal threads too. Vibers get 20% off if you use the code VIBE, too!!
Love Yourself Space — So, I already recommend Leanne’s Salt With Soul Substack (it’s so good, you should subscribe!). This woman does it ALL. I’ve been online pals with her since… well, I won't date us, but trust, it’s been a looong time. We met because of Dave Matthews Band, and have followed each other’s writing and other endeavors for years. She just launched this awesome project and has some quality merch available there to go along with the community she’s creating. As soon as my self-imposed spending restriction is over on March 31, I’m buying some hoodies — definitely the “Be The Vibe” and “Allow Yourself to Grow” ones. <3
Reads & Other Finds
Rolling Stone // Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour Is a 3-Hour Career-Spanning Victory Lap
Teen Vogue // Influencer Parents and The Kids Who Had Their Childhood Made Into Content
Astronomy // A scientific salad for astronauts in deep space
Reddit // Rare footage of when an iceberg flips and a Blue Iceberg is formed
Vulture // Brian Moylan. If you’re into Bravo programming, you’ll enjoy his recaps. I don’t even watch all the shows and I still read whatever he publishes. I’m living for the quick dose of fan fiction that is included at the end of the Vanderpump Rules recaps this season — somehow, it always surprises me! (PS: his Real Housewives book is the only one you should mess with!)
Top Subreddits
These are just my faves of the week. I cruise a lot (read: an insane amount) and using the Apollo app, there’s a fun little feature within the search that you can just hit “Random Subreddit” and keep refreshing to get something different. A few I think you should either browse or subscribe to are:
Please, if you have a Subreddit rec, pop it in the comments. There’s something for everyone!
Trailers & Videos
Before you get into the trailers, I just want to pay some respect to a movie intro that came up on Reddit for me this week. The poster writes:
“The intro to 28 Weeks Later is so intense, it puts other zombie content to shame for 16 years.” Hard agree. If you haven’t seen it, start with 28 Days Later, then roll right into this one. Non-stop thrill ride and a good ZA story!
I have a hot date on Sunday night with HBO, and maybe you do too! If you don’t… get caught up with Succession before you watch this trailer. High art. Epic television. Top tier writing and acting. Totally worth the week-to-week wait, IMO.
Okay, now it’s time for a couple of sick movie trailers!
When I saw the Tetris trailer, I kept screaming “this can’t be real, is this real?!” Needless to say, I’m all in.
I still miss my Blackberry (and BBM!!!) after all these years. RIP. <3
Who wouldn’t love this? Seriously, tell me, because I don’t want to know them!!
Memes & More
Charlie the Unicorn Cake, for a Redditor who recently donated a kidney.
DIWHY Big Wheels! (Seriously, though… why.)
(The above is an actual image of me from this past week, just vibing, playing Animal Crossing. Comic artist: Nathan Pyle, Strange Planet)
