As long as she does what she’s told, she has money in the bank and piece of mind. Some jobs are easier than others. Follow Ani’s journey into the depths of the life as a private contractor, where she’s faced with tough choices and shady characters along the way.
Author’s Note
When I wrote the first installment of Clandestine Affairs, I fully intended for it to be a “one and done” thing. A simple short story that gave readers a glimpse into a world that would lead to more questions than provide answers and establish a character/setting quickly. And, to work on my craft. Writing short stories is helping me be a better fiction writer for my goal of being a novelist, and I’m really happy I have a space where I can share those short stories with the masses.
When I sat down to write another piece, I was surprised to find I needed to continue Ani Pierce’s story. And then another came to me. And then, another! I simply couldn’t quit this character and the world I’m building around her.
For now, I’m using something I created in Canva (as you can tell, I’m clearly not a designer). Soon-ish, I’m going to commission an artist to design a dope cover for this series.
NOTE: I should tell you, these chapters have not been professionally edited. While I do have editing experience, I will miss things in my own work because I’m focused on just pressing publish here. Maybe one day I’ll be able to hire a second pair of eyes to clean it up a bit. But for now, because you’re a loyal subscriber, you get the raw edition. That’s fun and exciting, right?
Also: I publish new chapters when I can. There may be months in between new chapters while I work to finish this saga. (I do have a day job!) I hope you’ll continue to be patient with me — as soon as I write a new chapter, I’ll make it available as quickly as I can.
